A Country Christmas

Well, we just got back from spending a weekend in Grenada. First, we drove up to see Rebecca's mother. We arrived at her house at about 1:00. We hung out there for a little bit, and then opened a few gifts. Next, we drove out to Coffeeville to see the Clarks. Everyone was meeting up later in the afternoon, to celebrate Christmas. We had a good time hanging out there. The kids were just playing around, and the adults were eating. That is how it usually goes.

It was really warm when we went up there. I was wearing shorts and a short sleeved shirt. By about 8:00, we had quite a storm hit. It was just blowing and raining. Just after the rain left, the cold started to creep in. By the time we went back to Rebecca's mom's house, it was really cold. The next morning, it was below freezing. That is just the kind of crazy weather we have come to expect here in Mississippi. The summer is almost always just really hot, but the Winter is as unpredictable as can be. One week, you might be running around thinking it is Spring. The next, you will be huddled around a fire, fighting for your life. Well, maybe I exaggerated that last bit a little.

I received "The Dark Knight" on Blu Ray and I have already watched it. I really like that movie. I was so pumped about that when I opened the gift and saw what it was. Rebecca got "Wall-E" and I am sure we will enjoy that too.

Mom, Dad and Glen came over to watch "The Dark Knight" last night. We were all piled in the living room, watching it on our new flat screen tv in high definition. Only after about 30 minutes, Mom asked me if Rebecca was asleep. Sure enough, she had just passed out. She had put a blanket on herself, and that was all she wrote. She cannot resist a nap, at any given moment. Some were surprised to find out that Mom actually enjoyed the movie. I knew that she would, if she ever gave it a real chance. I was not one of the skeptics.

I was thinking that this short work week would be a slow one, but the past couple of days have proven otherwise. Monday was crazy. It is like everyone wanted to come to the bank, all the same day. I could not even get all of my work done. Today was a little less busy, but still quite busy. I hope our little half day tomorrow will be light and great. We get to leave at 1:00 on Christmas Eve, and none too soon, in my opinion. I would love to have that day off, but alas, my manager took the whole week of Christmas off. I cannot be off when she is. It will be good to have the half day on Christmas Eve and then all of Christmas Day off. We will have to go back to work on Friday, the day after Christmas, but I guess you just deal with stuff like that. I am basically in "retail," even though what we sell is money.

I have loaded up on Netflix movies for the holiday. I hope to get to watch quite a few of them. I have 5 discs of stuff at the moment. We usually only get 4 at a time, but we had a bonus rental, and I redeemed it Monday, so that it would produce a disc in time to get here before the shipping holiday. Some of the things I am looking forward to watching are as follows: Traitor, Lost: Season 4: Disc 2, The House Bunny, Reno 911!: Miami. We will probably watch Wall-E on blu ray, since Rebecca just got that for Christmas.

It looks like we will be doing the "Great Gingerbread Decoration Boondogle" on Christmas Day sometime. Conlan and Katie will be here, and we wanted to include them. I wonder what we will all come up with this time? Should be interesting.

I hear it is supposed to be back warm....and raining....for Christmas and the day after. That is a dissappointment, because I was liking it actually being cold for Christmas. What can you expect from Mississippi though, but the unpredictable weather?

There will be much eating, puzzle-working, frisbee-throwing, movie-watching, paper-ripping and all around good times. I love this time of year!
