Tell Your Story With 1,000 Words

I've launched my very first contest. It is a photo contest of sorts, but not where you submit your own photos to be voted on. I actually hand-picked some contestants (previous photography session clients) for a chance to win a free 1-hour photo shoot with 1,000 Words Photography.

All of the interaction is happening over on our facebook page, so please go check it out if you would like: www.facebook.com/1000wordsphoto

You might be thinking, what's really in it for me? Well, even if you're setup to win the 1-hour photo shoot, you could get some discounts on future photography needs just by participating. Anyone who votes gets 20% off of their next order with 1,000 Words Photography!

I've put all of the details in a note on the facebook page, so be sure to read them and participate!

Happy Voting!

Fall Is A-Coming

There have been a few hints that fall is on its way. I said a few, mind you. It's still been hot enough most days for the feeling to not be too real, but it's a-coming, as they say.

I personally, really like the fall. I love the summer and the flowers and all of it...well, I don't like the 100 degree days that we see a lot of during the summer. I do love the cooler days, and downright cool nights that we see. Partly, I must admit, due to the light electricity bill that we have. The other part...it's just nice for a change. It's hot around here quite a bit of the year, and it's just nice to have that change that says, "Another season is coming...get ready."

Our lives are like this too...we get tired of the same, old thing happening time and time again. We get stuck in a rut, wondering when that change is coming. You just need to look for the signs of it though...it's there, lurking in the near or distant future. Your change will come...will you have the insight to see it and recognize it when it does?

Technology Failure

Technology, while it can be very helpful and cn make our lives so much more productive, can also make us grow accustomed to it's accourtrements. While perched as high upon a hill as I could get, I tried to bid on something through the eBay app for iPhone. The network connectivity was suffering, obviously or I would not have had to drive to the biggest hill nearby just to get ANY cell signal. I found a spot that looked like it would hold 3G. Boy, was I wrong. Just as an auction I was watching had under a minute left, I placed my bid. I wanted to wait until the last minute to try to catch the other bidders unawares. The bid did not go through, and after I retyped the amount to submit again...it just sat there and spun......Forever! This was the longest few moments in recent memory for sure. by the time it finally loaded, the auction was over and I was not the winner.

I've become quite accustomed to using this kind of technology all of the time. Often, I have three devices that, at any given time, could easily access the Internet...and at pretty fast speeds. I just don't often realize how much I've come to depend on such devices & services. Tonight was one of those realizations.

Holding Hands

Recently, Alan has taken more interest in our praying before a meal. We all try to sit down for dinner, and then pray over the meal. We hold hands...and he's really started to like this. The other night, he didn't want to let go. He kept wanting to hold my hand, and wanting to eat with his other hand. I didn' thave the heart to tell him no. It was just so sweet, I could not deny him this. These little things just really give me joy.
