That Time of Year

We try to get some photos every year so that we can use them on Christmas cards if need by. We don't always send them out, but we have intentions every year.

It is difficult sometimes, me being the photographer, because others don't know exactly what I've envisioned for the shot.

I think these came out pretty good, and I'm very happy and thankful to have these people in my life.

(Some of the other shots were taken by me...just of Alan playing around and making funny faces.)

Sending Off A Soldier

John Daniel is shipping out to Afghanistan this week with the Army, and will more than likely be gone for a year. He has known Katie for over three years, and had an epiphany recently...he wanted to ask her something very important. You guessed it...it was THAT question!

He was in town this weekend, just for a few days. All of his family was meeting at a relative's house for The Stew, an annual event that has been going on for decades in their family. He had planned to ask Katie to marry him this weekend, but didn't exactly know how or when.

By the time they arrived at the event, they were an "official" engaged couple and the talk of the town. Katie is such a sweet girl and I don't blame John Daniel for wanting to ask her dad for his daughter's hand in marriage.

I had the privilege of meeting up with them today, a day later, to do a little mini-shoot. What a beautiful day to celebrate such a beautiful, budding relationship.

Whitney+Ryan Wedding

They told me it was very close to the railroad, but as I pulled up to this nice, Madison home...I saw just how close that was. It was right on the railroad! Their papaw had grown up working for the railroad and still gets the railroad folks to stop and talk to him every chance he gets.

Whitney and Ryan are getting married in the Dominican Republic....and what a destination. I wish I could have been a part of that, but they already had it booked, as I just came to know these down-to-earth people. They found out, after the fact, that their wedding there in the Dominican Republic would not officially be recognized by the United States, so they wanted to have a ceremony here to make it official.

I am lucky enough to be a part of that. They asked me to come to their Papaw's house and photograph a small, intimate wedding...with pretty much just family there. Boy, was it intimate! What a closely knit group of people! They even insisted that I stay and eat with them...their home cooked spread. (Unfortunately I had something else after that and could not stay.

Thank you, Whitney and Ryan, for letting me be a part of your day! It was truly special...and that is just what I gathered from seeing the emotion in the photographs!
